Rei Verde Chimarrão Nativa is a vibrant, finely ground Brazilian erva-mate, known for its intense neon-green color, very mild bitterness, and fresh taste. It features a smooth, naturally sweet, and herbaceous flavor profile, with subtle hints of cereal, biscuit, and mild cocoa—virtually free of smoky notes or bitterness. It consists of extremely fine powder (chimarrão* style) with some stem content and is vacuum-packed fresh to preserve the chlorophyll. It is a 100% natural product, free from artificial colors, chemicals, and preservatives. As someone trying chimarrão for the first time, I find the yerba incredibly fresh; it offers a great way to switch things up from the intense, bitter flavors of Uruguayan and Argentine cuts. I drank a full 1.5L thermos, and the flavor held up throughout the entire session—it clearly lasts for more than 2 liters. Preparation is undoubtedly quite tricky for a beginner; I made several attempts with a Brazilian cuia before finally switching to a stainless steel mate, which allowed me to avoid clogging the bombilla. Mastering chimarrão preparation takes time and practice. However, it is worth persisting with this variety of yerba rather than dismissing chimarrão simply because it is unfamiliar to us. Anything worthwhile requires effort, trial and error, and persistence, but the reward makes it all worth it. I'm m a new chimarrão lover! Obrigado, Brazil! Rating: 7/10.
