Yerba Mate in the Brazilian Tradition
Erva-mate for chimarrão is usually unaged, stemless and ground to a bright green powder, drunk from a wide cuia. The flavour tends to be grassier and more vegetal than the aged Argentine style. Brazil also produces toasted mate, which tastes nothing like either.

Roasted Green Mate is the queen of yerba mate. Sourced from shaded Brazilian plantations in the state of Paraná, it has excellent stimulating properties, yet the infusion is not overly bitter. It contains no additives, just a chocolate-scented herbal blend consisting of medium-cut leaves with a small amount of stems. The flavor of this yerba mate is very mild with a noticeable hint of cocoa. This yerba mate was prepared especially for you in Brazil. It contains approximately 95% leaves and 5% stems. It is from this roasted mate that delicious blends with herbs, fruits, and other ingredients are made, which can be purchased in good tea shops. We recommend this yerba mate to all beginners as a perfect start – well-prepared, it certainly won't be off-putting with an overly strong and bitter taste. The flavor of this yerba mate is exceptionally interesting, mild with a noticeable hint of cocoa, yet possessing multi-dimensional depth. Beginning with the chocolate aroma that captivates our sense of smell immediately after brewing, a multitude of diverse taste sensations arise with each sip of this extraordinary mate.
