Strong, flavorful, with notable acidity and moderate intensity. Creamy, full bodied and hints of tobacco, hay and dry nuts. Probably best avoided if you've already had coffee in the morning, if you are sensitive to caffeine or starting drinking mate, as this yerba is intense , but it’s really good. I’ve mixed it with La Serena—which significantly tones down the intensity—and they blend very well. A liter and a half or more. Brewed at 175 degrees, though it can handle up to 185, just like all fine-ground varieties.

Originally I tried it first in a Stanley Mate cup. It made the taste bitter, smoky and somewhat enjoyable which I’m assuming because of the cup keeping the water hot. The second time I tried it in a gourd and WOW did it make a diffrence! It made it smooth and toasty. It has a bread-like after taste and definitely became a favorite of mine.

It’s a very good bitter Yerba it’s not overly strong but for me it’s just right in the being it’s earthy not that smooth you are going to need a good bombilla

Canarias is perhaps one of the best Uruguayan yerbas. You can’t go wrong. It has an intense and bitter taste that is long lasting. For good reason this is considered a gold standard. A great Uruguayan Yerba which will serve as a great starting place to find other you like. Warning, it may be better than a lot of others that you like.

gf said it is very bean-y, i kind of agree. Strong grassy and bitter taste, not the easiest to drink but very potent and good for a busy day.

Lo clásico. I always have Canarias in rotation for the days I’m looking for an extra boost of energy. Definitely a stronger mate and lasts an entire termo without losing its flavor. Always a go-to with a well-deserved reputation.
